The 18th inter-school Seuli Seal Memorial Quiz tested students on all grounds — be it movies, sports or general knowledge. The DBMS English School organised the quiz in the honour of Seuli Seal, who died in an accident in 1991.

About 26 city schools participated in the competition that was co-ordinated by the general knowledge club of the school.

Four-member teams of Classes V, VI and VII participated in the contest. Little Flower School emerged as the winner with 60 points followed by DBMS English School with 55 points and Loyola School with 45 points.

The competition was conducted in seven rounds — which included a visual and an audio round and separate rounds on current affairs, history, geography and mixed questions. However, most of the rounds were visual. For example, students were asked to identify brands, famous personalities and movies through clippings.

The inter-school quiz has now become quite popular in the school circuit. The quiz that started with a limited number of schools 18 years ago but today it saw 104 participants from 26 schools for the preliminary round.

Finally six teams comprising Sacred Heart Convent School, Loyola School, Valley View School, Little Flower School, Kerala Samajam Model School and DBMS English School made it to the final.

All the schools that participated in the preliminary round had to answer 25 general knowledge questions. Top six scorers made it to the final round.

“Though it was started in the honour Seuli Seal, it has now become one of the biggest events for us. Students who aim to participate in the quiz need to know about what is happening around the world. We do take tests in school to make them aware,” said Renu Arora, the General Knowledge Club Moderator at DBMS English School.
