Dear Parent,

PrincipalWe are well into the 2nd Term of this academic session. Our students have been doing extremely well in various fields. Rabi Shanker Guha of Class XII ISC batch 2010 topped the city as well as the states of Bihar and Jharkhand with 97%. He was honoured not only by the School but also by the Anglo Indian Association and Prabhat Khabar and Hindustan newspapers. Kriti Prakashan awarded two trophies one for the school and other to Rabi Shanker Guha for securing the first position in ISC 2010 (Bihar and Jharkhand). This was presented by Mr. Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary of the ICSE Council at the Regional meeting of Principals of Bihar and Jharkhand on 6th of August, 2010. On 16 /8/2010 the Hindustan newspaper awarded a trophy to the school as D. B. M. S. English School was adjudged the best school of Jamshedpur in the ICSE / ISC category. This trophy was presented by Mr. H. M. Nerurkar, Managing Director, Tata Steel. The Indo Mauritius Exchange Programme organised the Duke of Edinburgh Award from 18th July to 28th July, 2010. Shreya Ghosh, an outgoing student of Std. XII and Mr. Suryajeet Singh our Games Teacher were selected to participate in an International camp held at Mauritius. This was indeed a momentous occasion for them as they interacted with participants from different countries.

Receiving the Excellence in Education AwardOur students have been doing exceptionally well in Sports and Games. Our Girls team won the Tata Power Cricket Cup 2010 - Girls tournament. 5 Girls and one boy of our School participated in the 15th Sub-Junior National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship held at Goa from 13th to 16th May, 2010, where the Girls team emerged winner. The ICSE/ISC Junior Athletics meet was conducted on 26th and 27th August, 2010 where our school secured 6 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze medals. 5 Girls and 2 Boys have now been selected for the 14th ICSE/ISC Regional Athletic Championship to be held on 20/10/2010. The Regional Swimming Championship of ICSE/ISC Schools was held on 1st September, 2010 where our students received 5 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals. Our Senior Girls were declared overall champions and S. Darshana received the individual championship in the Junior Girls category.

Our students completed 8 projects in the previous academic session and they exchanged information with 13 schools across the globe. This was a unique experience as students shared information in diverse areas such as Iron and Steel Industry in India and in the U. K., Types of Pan Cakes in U.S.A. and in India, Variety of dance forms in Brazil compared with Indian dances, India’s struggle for freedom as compared to that of South Africa etc.

The School is progressing due to the brilliant performance of our students as well as the untiring endeavour of our teachers. Along with academics and co-curricular activities we would like our students to imbibe right values and attitude which can be entrenched in these formative years. We look forward to your support in guiding and shaping our students into responsible citizens who realise the importance of hard work.

Lions Club  of Jamshedpur felicitated our Principal, Mrs. Rajani Shekhar by presenting her with a citation to commemorate the birth day of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan.There is a change in the dates of 2nd Terminal Examination as we had to take forward the First Term Examination on account of early closure for summer vacation. Therefore the 2nd Term Examination now begins from 11th October, Monday before we close for Puja vacation. The other examinations will continue on the day we re-open after the Puja vacation i.e. from Monday, 25th October, 2010.
