The D. B. M. S. English School organised an Inter School Spell Bee contest on 25th January, 2012. It was conducted by Mr. Siddharth Sen, English Teacher of Plus Two level. The spelling asked were interesting and simple but the children had to use their grey cells to crack them. The following Nine schools had participated in the contest:
- R. V. S. Academy
- Little Flower School, Telco.
- Kerala Public School, Kadma.
- Gulmohur High School, Telco.
- Motilal Nehru Public School.
- Kerala Samajam Model School.
- Church School
- Loyola School and
- D. B. M. S. English School.
There were three rounds. The first round was the knockout round where each participant was asked to spell three words. The participants who cracked two and three spellings went on to the next round. The second round was the jumbled words round which was the visual round. The participants were given clues to help them. In the third round the shortlisted participants had to spell five words each. There was a tie-breaker round for the third place between Aman Kumar of Church School and Mohit Das of K. P. S. Kadma.
