Golden Jubilee Programme: 21st to 23rd December, 2015.

D. B. M. S. English School completed 50 glorious years of its existence in the Steel City of Jamshedpur. A 3 days grand celebration was held in the school on 21st, 22nd and 23rd December, 2015. A momentous occasion in its history. It saw one of the founder members, Mrs. Bhanumathi Neelakantan, the architect of the school's glorious existence, spear heading and co-ordinating all the arrangements.

 A special Puja was performed on 20th Dec. morning to invoke the blessings of the almighty. 21st December dawned chilly and cold with ten prominent alumni addressing the morning assembly. A flurry of police personnel accompanied Shri. Raghubar Das, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand who was the Chief Guest on the morning of the opening day. He addressed students - both past and present and spoke about his plans regarding education. About 25 alumni, each a specialist in his or her chosen field, interacted with students of the high school. Then followed volleyball and cricket matches between senior students and alumni.

The campus wore a festive look with an ornate entrance, huge banners displayed the schools journey from 1965 to the present. A special banner titled 'Sweet Memories' showed vignettes of our beloved Bhanu Auntie down memory lane.

The evening saw a colourful dance performance by our alumni followed by beautiful songs rendered by Rahul Sharma of ISC 2005 batch. Then followed Vidit Tiwary as the DJ and set everyone's feet tapping.

22nd morning was specially for the alumni achiever and ex-teachers. 25 Alumni achievers from India and abroad were felicitat4ed with citations and mementoes . Several ex-teachers including some of the founder teachers had come to be a part of the celebrations. They were felicitated with gifts. Some of the ex-teachers who had excelled in diverse fields were specially honoured with citations.

Mr. T. V. Narendran, Managing Director , Tata Steel was the Chief Guest on 22nd evening. Mrs. Rajani Rao, ex-teacher and Mrs. Uma, ex-student gave beautiful dance recitals. A short documentary on D. B. M. S. English School made by ex-student Tathagata Bhattacharjee was screened. Mr. Narendran was impressed with the progress made by the school and communicated best wishes for more laurels.

Ex-Teacher, Mrs. Surekha Venugopal along with her team of ex-students shared some anecdotes. Suparna Shankaran ICSE 1993 batch carried the audience with her from Kashmir to Kanyakumari with her melody.

Acknowledging people's contribution has always been the D. B. M. S. way. Founder members, ex-managing committee members, management members and teachers were felicitated on 23rd morning. Students of D. B. M. S. English School showcased the growth and development of the school through the programme "Hamara Sunhera Ithihas". The programme held people spellbound and many marvelled at the high level of performance.

Reminisces, hugs, squeals of joy, an emotional tear, clasping of arms - joie de vivre - three days of lively cheerful enjoyment. D. B. M. S. English School stands tall - a testimony to the faith and hard work of the founders. Forging ahead...
