Students with the items made of waste. Telegraph picture Jamshedpur, July 1: Students today used waste as a resource to showcase their creative best at an exhibition organised by the environment club of DBMS English School on the institute premises.

Waste material like old unused bottles, old clothes and coconut shells were turned into beautiful showpieces.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Lalitha Chandrashekhar, the president of DBMS English School, in the presence principal Rajani Shekhar.

Students used broken bangles and rope to create wind chimes, matchboxes, empty perfume bottles and broomsticks to make robots, penstands and pots. Ashwini Kumar, a Class II student, used CDs as wheels on his cart while Shalu Agarwal, a Class VIII student, made a nest with artificial birds and eggs.

There was also a separate corner for teachers, who also participated in the event. Niruparna Mukherjee, the craft teacher, displayed several wall hangings and decorative items.

Icecream, made of wax, in little ice-cream cups with small Christmas trees was one of the best creations at the teachers’ corner.

Shobhna Rani, a teacher, who was also in charge of the event, said the exhibition was an attempt to create awareness among students.
