Jamshedpur, Feb. 18: Yet another Jamshedpur star promises to shine in the Bollywood galaxy.

After director Imtiaz Ali, cinematographer Barun Mukherjee and actors R. Madhavan and Tanushree Dutta, debutant director Jehangir Surti is ready to take tinsel town by storm with Aa Dekhen Zara – A Date with Fate. The film — being produced under the banner of Eros International and slated for release on March 27 — has sultry siren Bipasha Basu and Mukesh scion Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead roles.

The story of Aa Dekhen Zara revolves around Ray Acharya (Neil), a struggling photographer who has nothing going for him until he inherits a very special camera from his grandfather. Ray’s life changes overnight. Fortune comes knocking on the door and he also meets the loves of his life Simi (Bipasha), a sexy DJ.

Though the script is run of the mill — another hackneyed rags-to-riches saga — Surti promises some edge-of-the-seat action in what he calls a musical thriller.

A Loyola (and DBMS) alumnus, Surti entered the world of entertainment as an assistant director with Durga Khote Production — one of the oldest production houses in the industry. “I had the chance of working with television directors such as Kundan Shah of Wagle ki Duniya fame. Later, I started my own ad film company named Jumpstart Production,” the 37-year-old told The Telegraph from Mumbai.

Surti gives credit to Neil for his foray into filmmaking. “He (Neil) has always been a dear friend and he fixed my meeting with Viki Rajan of Eros. The script may be tame, but the rendition will speak volumes for the film,” he said.

Thanks to the actor, the Jamshedpur boy has already signed three more films. “Jehangir is a brilliant director. His USP is his vision. We wish him all the best,” said Neil.

So, how will Surti’s date with fate next month be? Aa dekhen zara…
