Rajani Shekhar, PrincipalDear Parent,

We are close to the end of a fruitful academic session 2008-2009. As India went through the atrocities of terrorism and the world faced economic recession, there were instances of hope for the future in the form of Abhinav Bindra, Mahesh Bhupathi, Sania Mirza, the Chandrayan team, Yuki Bhambri and of course Obama.

At D. B. M. S., some of our faculty members faced emotional setback owing to the loss of a loved one, but have emerged stronger due to the support of family and friends. Our students have been working hard in the academic and co-curricular fields. The team which participated in Macfair ‘08, an international event organised by city Montessori School, Lucknow emerged the 1st Runner-up team. Rabi Shanker Guha and Debjyoti Banerjee secured the first prize in the Model Display and Ankit Mahato and Ankit Raj secured the third position in the Maths Quiz.

QUANTA - 2008’ once again an international event was organised at Lucknow in November. K. Tushar Bharti won the second prize in Debate and Shrenik Jain and Rabi Shanker Guha got the Second Prize in the Science Quiz. The team of Rabi Shanker Guha and Debjyoti Banerjee got an honourable mention in the Model Display category.

At the Indo-Srilanka International Tennis Ball Cricket series held from 10th to 12th October, 2008 Anmol Sethi of Std. IX D and Manisha of Std. VIII D were a part of the winning men and women’s team. They were accompanied by Mr. Suryajit Singh - the Sports teacher.

Our students have been excelling in JOGGA and other sports activities in Jamshedpur too.

D.B.M.S. English School is a part of the UKIERI (U.K. India Educational and Research Initiatives) under the aegis of the British Council. Six Jamshedpur Schools have got together to form the OLIVE Cluster and are working closely with four schools of Wales (U.K.) of the Monmouth cluster. This is a partnership for 3 years to bring about inter-cultural learning and to spread global citizenship. Under this programme 8 dignitaries from 4 schools of Wales visited our school on 16th Jan. 2009. They were very impressed with the culture of the school and the respect shown by our students towards elders.

D. B. M. S. English School was recognized at a special ceremony for crossing the 400 points band in the Dr. J. J. Irani Award for Excellence in Education - 2007, for its commitment towards quality education.

The final examinations for this academic session begin shortly. Please encourage your wards to be regular and diligent in their work, to set realistic goals and targets for themselves and to work hard towards achieving these goals. Your presence and encouragement is required by your children at this time to motivate them towards success.

124 students of Std. X & 136 students of Std. XII will be answering the Board Examinations. ISC practical examinations start from Monday, 16th Feb. and the theory papers for both ICSE and ISC students start from 2nd March, 2009. Our students have been working very hard and they require our good wishes and prayers to excel and top the Board Examinations.

Looking forward to your continued support and encouragement in all our endeavours.
