Lessons from a visit to”Shishu Bhavan”, the orphanage, and “Nirmal Hriday”, the old age home, organised by Jyoti Club.

“It makes no difference as to how much you do, but how much love you put in the doing makes the difference.”

This is exactly what I tried to accomplish when I visited the old-age home and the orphanage on 14th of August. , we the students of Jyoti Club, had been given a chance to visit the homes, for which we had collected money and bought some gifts of daily use for the residents. The scence that I can recollect was very disheartening; the condition of these people was miserable, it seemed as though they just existed and not living a life. Their living conditions was very pitiable. I met an old lady who had sunken eyes and wrinkles all over her face. She spoke to me about her son who had left her in the old-age home to suffer and gone abroad. She narrated this tale of woe to me and that brought tears in my eyes. I was in a state of shock and felt guilty being so privileged to have everything.

On returning home from there, I learnt a lesson that I should be self satisfied in life. These people are less secured in this world as they do not get the care and support which they should get.

I, thereby feel that the youth of today should sincerely take a pledge to spare some moments from their busy schedule o extend love and suport to these unfortunate sould.

I salute in gratitude to the selfless service put in by the Sisters of Nirmal Hriday and Shishu Bhavan.
