Annual Prize NightXI Standard Orientation Meeting | 12th April 2010

An orientation meeting was held on the 12th of April 2010 for the students of Std. XI. They were accompanied by their parents. The Principal, Mrs. Rajani Shekhar made them familiar with the rules and regulations of this level. She mainly emphasised upon the co-operation of the parents with the school in enforcing rules for the benefit of the students which will help them remain focused on their studies.

Many key issues concerning this level were explained through a powerpoint presentation. They are as follows:

  • Road safety tips were given to students and parents.
  • Student should wear the prescribed school uniform and carry himself / herself with dignity.
  • Incase of free periods, students must use reference rooms for studies.
  • They must return home when their classes are let off early.
  • Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited in school premises; if caught with one, it will be confiscated by the school authorities.

The Principal asked the parents and students if they had any queries and they were then addressed.

An introduction of the teachers teaching this level was made to the students and parents.

To conclude the meeting, the Principal wished and blessed all the students for the new challenges in the new class.

Intra School Bournvita Quiz | 13th April 2010

The intra school Bournvita Quiz was held on the 13th of April in the school auditorium for the students of Std. III to Std. VIII.

Mr. Laressa Gomez, a relationship associate from Derek O’brien And Associates Pvt. Ltd., was the quiz master on this occasion.

The duration of the quiz contest was an hour consisting of six rounds. The teams comprised six members each ranging from Std. III level to Std. VIII.

The winning team members are:

  • Priyanka Gandhi (Std. III),
  • Akash Roy (Std. IV),
  • T.Venu Madhav (Std. V),
  • Dibyashekhar Bhattamishra (Std. VI),
  • Ved Vineet (Std. VII),
  • Yash Chaturvedi (Std. VIII)

The winning team will take part in the finals to be held on the 21 st April 2010 at Carmel Junior College.

Inter School Nukkad Natak Competetion | 14-20, April, 2010

Tata steel had observed safety week from 14-20 April where they had organised an inter school Nukkad Natak Competition where in 22 schools of Jamshedpur had participated. Our school won the second prize under the guidance of Mrs. Renu Arora and Ms.Rohini Sathaye, teachers of our school.

Prize night is a very solemn occasion for the students, teachers and parents of, and associated with D.B.M.S. English School. The students who strive to excel are rewarded with awards on this grand day for their stupendous achievement in all spheres of learning.

The category of prizes are:

  • Rankers awards
  • Special awards - general
  • Std. XI - subject awards
  • Std. X - special awards
  • Std. XII - special awards and
  • Sports Awards.

Our annual prize night is scheduled on Thursday the 22nd of April 2010, at 6.30 p.m. in the school assembly ground. The Chief Guest for the evening is Mrs. Lakshmishree Banerjee, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Kolhan University.

Bhanumati Neelakantan Awards:

The founder and chairperson of the D.B.M.S. English School, Mrs.Bhanumati Neelakantan, has instituted the Bhanaumati Neelakantan Awards and Aids Trust to honour and accord special recognition to five outstanding women each year.

The criteria are as follows:

  • A physically challenged woman from the underprivileged section of society who has risen against all odds.
  • A woman entrepreneur from the underprivileged background
  • An outstanding sports woman below 25 years of age from the underprivileged section who has qualified upto the state level.
  • An outstanding student of class twelve who has risen on her own merit,
  • A woman who works to bring about social awareness among her economically backward society.

Each of these awardees gets a cheque of rupees ten thousand, a momento, a certificate and several gifts.

The encouragement received from Mrs. Bhanumathi Neelakantan helps the women of our society to surge with vigour and determination. They, in turn, contribute positively towards the upliftment of their brethren. The torch of moral responsibility is constantly alit and is carried forth by one and all.
